Fettes College Connection

Dual Use

Westwoods Health Club is set within the grounds of Fettes College.  The Club is owned by the College and operated by Fettes Enterprises Limited, a trading division of the Fettes Trust.

Westwoods is run in the same way as many other private health clubs, although as a dual use facility, we have both Club and School members.

How does dual access work?

The main facility that School members use throughout the day and evening is the multi-purpose sports hall.  This allows them to run various different indoor sports.  As this facility is heavily restricted to Club members, we do not make a charge within your membership subscription for this.

Between 9pm and 10pm weekday it is common place to see a high number of our school members using the full range of facilities.

In the swimming pool, School members will use either two, three or four lanes depending on the activity they are running, which means that Club members always have at least two lanes to swim in.  There is a significant proportion within the day that the swimming pool is available to Club members entirely.  The school also run around 5 to 6 swimming galas per year, generally between 2pm and 4pm; in these instances the whole pool is unavailable to Club members.

We publish a pool timetable every month so you will always know what planned activities are happening. As well as School member use it also has details of activities run for Club members such as aquafit, family fun times and lifeguard training. The current month’s pool timetable can be found on our Downloads page.  Any additions to the timetable, once published, will be indicated on the latest news section of the website and / or via our twitter feed @westwoodshc.
